A good thing is happening in Raleigh this weekend. The first annual Weekend for Women conference is bringing together women from all over the US to discuss how to live well with diabetes. Expert presentations and panel discussions will join tai chi and belly dancing as ways for women to connect with each other.
For many of these women, it may be the first time they’ve had a chance to meet such a large group of women who share their experiences. We know that social support leads to better health outcomes, especially in chronic diseases like diabetes.
The Weekend for Women is a unique opportunity for women to begin relationships that can deliver this critical social support, enriching their lives and ultimately leading to better health outcomes.
And as a conference takeaway, that sure trumps a tote bag.
